Grey River Lodge

Location: Grey River Lodge is approximately 20 km up-river from the Atlantic Ocean on the remote south west coast of Newfoundland. The Grey River itself is a magnificent river system with a deep valley and a boulder-strewn course that contains incredible pools.

The Lodge: Grey River Lodge has two locations overlooking the river. The first is the Forks Lodge that accommodates up to 8 guests from mid-June to mid-July. The second location is Salmon Brook Lodge which is 7 miles further up-stream and it accommodates smaller groups of up to 4 anglers.

The Fishing: Angling is done from shore & because much of the river is full of large boulders anglers should be in some semblance of physical shape. Day excursions up and downstream from the lodge allow anglers to fish virtually untouched pools and the 800’ boardwalk provides easy access to closer pools. The season runs from mid-June to late August but the Lodge does not accept bookings beyond July 25 because peak fishing is from opening day to late- July. Please note that only parties of up to 4 anglers can book after July 13.

Typical Day: Because each lodge has a number of excellent pools within yards of the front door guests are encouraged to rise at their leisure and fly fish at their own pace. Each day begins with a hearty breakfast with lunch & dinner served at the lodge.

Getting There: The lodge is only accessible by a 1 hour helicopter flight from Deer Lake & the trip in and out is a memorable experience. You should plan to overnight in Deer Lake because the first light departs at 8:00 to get you into the lodge on your first day.

Dates: This is a difficult lodge to book because the return rate is extremely high. However, occasional cancellations occur – please call our store for details.

25% non-refundable deposits are required upon booking & the balance due 30 days before arrival. As with any trip travel insurance is recommended.
