Manitou Weather Station

Location: Manitou Weather Station is a fly-in destination due north of Fort Frances in Northwestern Ontario at N49, 17.381 / W92, 56.429

The Lodge: The lodge has 4 luxurious log cabins with kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms and separate bedrooms that sleep 4-8 guests. Each cabin also has a deck and barbeque with great lake views. The main lodge has internet access, a hot tub and sauna and boasts a 2 storey stone fireplace with enough room to accommodate up to 30 guests.

The Fishing: Catching Muskie on the fly is similar to lassoing a tiger - few attempt it because while it is adrenalin-pumping fun it can get you into a whole bunch of trouble ! With Muskie that are often ranging 40” to 55”, Manitou Weather Station is located on one of the best Muskie lakes in Canada. Smallmouth bass, walleye, pike and lake trout are abundant at this lodge but this trip is for anglers who want to catch Muskie on a fly. The Muskie season runs from the 3rd Saturday in June until December 15th but the best time to go is late August – and we have the best dates reserved !

Typical Day: Breakfast is served in the main lodge from 7:30 to 8:30 after which guests dress for a day on the water. Shore lunches are typically served and guides return parties to the lodge for 5 pm. The hot tub and sauna are also available for guests to relax at the end of what will be a great day of fishing.

Getting There: Guests arrange their own flights to Fort Frances, Ontario and are transported to the lodge via float plane. Boat access is also possible – please contact the lodge for details.
