Nicholas Dean Lodge

Location: Nicholas Dean Lodge is located in northwest British Columbia on the banks of the lower - Skeena watershed just outside the town of Terrace.

The Lodge: Nicholas Dean operates 2 camps: the new main lodge is “Yellow Cedar Lodge” and the Skeena Camp is a tent camp offering more spartan accommodation but equally great opportunities. Both are surrounded with breathtaking scenery that is surpassed only by the quality of the fly fishing.

The Fishing: Nicholas Dean Lodge is accessible to the best rivers including the Skeena, the Upper & Lower Copper, the Kalum and the Ecstall along with small rainforest rivers, classic gravel cobble Steelhead streams, rich coastal estuaries and meandering brooks. In these water systems are opportunities for all 5 species of Pacific Salmon, Trophy Steelhead, Bull Trout and Char.

Typical Day: As with many hardcore fishing lodges your day starts with a hearty breakfast at 7 am and anglers are given an opportunity to pack their own box lunch to take with them that day. Anglers fish from 8:30 to 5:30 and return to the lodge by truck for a 5-star dinner at 7 pm. While some anglers stay up recounting the day’s fishing, most retire early so they can recharge for their next day of fishing !

Getting There: The Lodge is a 20 minute drive from the airport in Terrace, BC near the lower-Alaska border and a 1.5 hour flight from Vancouver via Air Canada or HawkAir.
