Serpentine River

Location: York Harbour, Newfoundland.

Accomodation: After spending your first night in cabins overlooking the Bay of Islands an ATV transports you to the shores of the beautiful Serpentine River. Here you sleep in raised tents and fish virtually untouched pools. We stress that the accommodation is spartan at best but you will fish water that is well off the beaten track and truly pristine !

The Fishing:The Serpentine River was one of Lee Wulff’s favourites and remains one of the best Atlantic Salmon rivers in Newfoundland. Lee camped on the shores of the Serpentine and you will do the same. Accordingly, this trip is not for the faint of heart and at least a basic level of physical fitness is required along with a sense of adventure!

Typical Day: After a hearty breakfast you will walk & wade the shores of this historic river and fish Its many pools. Lunch is either at camp or a box lunch is served on shore. Dinners include fresh seafood and local fare… & lots of fishing for Atlantic Salmon from dawn until dusk !

Getting There: Cost excludes the flight to Deer Lake. On your arrival Friday July 3 you travel by van to the cabins at York Harbour & fish 4 days (Saturday – Tuesday). You are returned to the cabins Tuesday in time for dinner and taken out to Deer Lake on July 8 for your flight. Please note that the deadline to booking this trip is April 17.

What to Expect: There is no reason to sugar coat this trip and we don’t try. You will have good but not spectacular meals, comfortable but not luxurious cots (consider yourself warned) and hard days of walking and wading rough terrain in some less than inviting territory. However, what we promise are great guides and numerous opportunities to catch Atlantic Salmon – and a lot of them if we time it right !

Price: $2,495 CAD/person double occupancy. (Includes taxes for the Newfoundland portion of the trip). Pricing is based on a group of 4.
