| Location: Villa Maria lodge is located 15 minutes from Rio Grande in Argentina’s southern-most province of Tierra del Fuego. This lodge is part of a working Estancia (ranch) and provides a great opportunity to meet locals and get a sense of what daily life is like in this area. |
| The Lodge: Villa Maria has 2 lodges: the main lodge is used for breakfast, dinner and overnight accommodation while the day lodge overlooks the Rio Grande and is used for serving lunch and the afternoon siesta. The main lodge has 3 spacious guest rooms, a main lounge with a bar and an office with internet access. The day lodge has all modern amenties, is architecturally unique and offers panoramic views of the river valley. |
| The Fishing: Like its sister lodges, Villa Maria is known for one thing – monster sea run brown trout in the Rio Grande. There are few places in the world that offer this quality of fishing on such a reliable basis. Fish typically range 5 to 20 lbs but it is common to land brown trout over 25 lbs. Note: 2-handed rods are highly recommended ! |
| Getting There: The lodge is minutes from the city of Rio Grande but this airport has infrequent and often unreliable flight service. Best bets are via Ushuaia which receives 6 flights a day but adds 2 hours to the drive. Staff pick up guests and transport them to the lodge and we recommend that you make your travel plans through Prana Travel, a division of Nervous Waters, that will provide escorts and arrange for all ground transportation. |
