Toronto is a great, cosmopolitan city and our shop is located in
its heart near all of the major hotels in the downtown core. However,
while this is Canadas largest city, we are within an easy
drive of dozens of rivers, streams and lakes and numerous conservation
areas and provincial parks. There is excellent fishing virtually
every day of the year in our area and much of it is within a one
hour drive of WILSONS.
Our guides are intimately familiar with Southern Ontarios
best rivers and we provide our clients with good, first hand information
about where and when to go and what to bring. All of our guide staff
are on the water constantly and stay in close contact with the shop
staff over stream conditions and the latest hatch information. They're
expert fishermen and excellent, patient teachers. They all have
great attitudes about sharing the sport of fly fishing and make
sure our clients have an enjoyable outing.
Our local guided trips are restricted to a maximum of 3 people
per guide so we can get you into lots of fish quickly ! Licenses
are required and lunch is provided. The cost is $300 for 1 rod and
$150 for 2 rods or more.
When you call to book a guide, we'll put you into the perfect
spot. Each spot is tailored to your ability, schedule, and interests.
Call the store or send us an email for more information, dates or
reservations.
Our destinations include:
Credit River
You would be hard pressed to convince anyone that a better fishery
exists as close to a major metropolitan area in Eastern Canada as
this. The area around Forks of the Credit Provincial Park contain
beautiful stretches that fish better than others, with timing being
critical to success. Our guides know this river like the back of
their hands.
Grand River
The stretch of river between the bottom draw reservoir at Belwood
Lake above the town of Fergus down to the village of Inverhaugh
is some of the best brown trout fishing in North America and fishing
below the 20 metre cliffs of the Grand River gorge is a memorable
experience matched only by the size of the trout you will catch
! This is a well-known fishery but our guides will get you onto
lightly fished pools that only the hard-core fishers tread.
Noisy River
Little known even to ardent fly fishers, the Noisy River is one
of the hidden gems in Southern Ontario. This lovely freestone river
joins the Mad River near Creemore and its intermediate grade belies
the number of productive pools you will find. You can spend a week
fishing this river catching trout and not fish the same stretch
twice. Our guides know productive pools that even the locals don't
know exist !
Mad River
This is one of the prettiest freestone rivers in Southern Ontario.
With numerous pools along a relatively steep grade, the Mad is surprisingly
productive and because it does not have the angling pressure of
other destinations like the Grand or the Credit, odds are you will
have some of the best trout fishing you have experienced in years!
Saugeen River, Nottawasage River, Ganaraska River, Maitland River,
Beaver River and Bighead River.
